One simple way to read together
- Begin with the story. Read at your child’s pace and pause when a picture catches their attention.
- Choose one word or phrase. Try saying it together if your child is interested; you do not need to use every language prompt at once.
- Leave space for their idea. Talk about how they would help the star, or use the star-drawing activity with paper and a pencil.
These are optional reading suggestions. They are not a tested teaching method, and there is no fixed session length.

For a shared reading break
The listed 5.5 × 8.5-inch format gives you a size to compare with your bag. Consider it for a waiting break when an adult is available to read and talk. We have not tested it on a particular trip or measured how long it holds a child’s attention.
